Woo Hoo

Adele slept for 9 hours straight last night!!! Of course I didn't go to bed until Midnight and had to wake up at 5:40 anyway to pump so I didn't get to enjoy it but I know sleep is on the horizon!

So we had a great time overall and will definately be back. The theme park is perfect for Toddlers. We stayed at the Sheraton attached to the park. We had a special entrance for hotel guests which made things extra convenient. The hotel catered to families and we participated in the poolside BBQ Saturday night and then they erected a huge outdoor screen and showed a movie by the pool.

We did have one very scary moment though. Veda was playing in a huge playground. She went up the stairs to a tree house that had a slide. She went up but never came down. Little did we know that there was an entrance at the back of the house and that she had gone into another area of the playground. She was missing for 5 to 10 minutes... it seemed like an eternity. It makes me emotional just writing about it but it was most definately the scariest moment ever. Todd and I could hardly even talk about it afterwards... so many things were going through out minds.

Oh my Gosh....a Bus ?!?

Veda had a blast her first day at Legoland. One of the big highlights was the Aquarium, where we taped Veda's mini freak out. Actually it was pretty hilarious. The rest of the kids her age and older, were a little freaked out. The bigger kids kept telling her to calm down (or they would go over to their parents and ask what was wrong with her). It took us a while to interpret this and actually we had to go back to the hotel and put on Finding Nemo this morning to figure out what she was actually saying....Watch the video first and then, here's the translation:

Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh....a "butt", a "butt"...Oh my gosh, oh my, Elmo (Veda calls Nemo Elmo), help"
In Finding Nemo the movie, Nemo gets taken by the men on the boat. The small fish in the movie call the fishing boat that takes Nemo "A Butt". We believe Veda was trying to tell us that Nemo was in the boat at the bottom of the aquarium and that he needed help.

Tummy Time Makes Me Sleepy

Tummy Time

I couldn't decide which pic I liked best so I posted them all;)

Camp Bedroom

So Todd is in Geneva all week. I don't like to blog about him being out of town until he gets back... in case there are any crazies reading the blog... but since he broke the news... I am flying solo with the girls. I admit I was freaked out by the idea but happy to report that we are getting along fine. Of course the day Todd left the TV downstairs blew it's bulb (which was at the same exact time I realized I had just washed a dirty diaper with my bed sheets) so.... I packed up Veda's toys and moved them to the bedroom along with her books. I decided a new environment might be fun for her and would allow me to lay in bed... oh yeah... I'm sick too and little Adele is showing signs of a cold. Mission accomplished... Veda keeps saying "my toys" and is actually playing with them and reading her books. I'm just hoping I recover by tomorrow so I can get us packed up for our trip to Carlsbad this weekend. We are going to take Miss Veda to Legoland then over to the Soffin's in Eagle Rock for another BBQ!

Early Morning in Geneva...

I landed in Geneva yesterday around 2pm...went straight into the office (which I was pretty impressed with given I only slept for a couple hours on the plane).  Fortunately, I was able to go to sleep around 9:30pm (with hopes of a great night sleep).  Unfortunately, I woke up around 2:30am WIDE AWAKE!  At that time in the morning, there isn't much to do besides turn on the TV.  Geneva is not known for it's great TV stations.  The average hotel TV typically has 3-4 French news channels, 2-3 British news channels, CNN (which I refuse to watch), 3-4 German Channels and then about 15 Arab channels (with quite a variety of programming).  Luckily for me, I found that if I turned up the volume REALLY loud on one of the Arab channels, I could actually hear the real sound (in English) to the movie.  Of course the movie was Honey I Shrunk the kids...not exactly Oscar caliber, but it was pretty exciting for an insomniac in Geneva.

Appy Me

Translation - Happy Meal! Veda was chanting this as we headed through the drive-through for the second time this week. I think she remembered that she got a Shrek toy last time so she was super excited to see what this visit would bring her... Fiona! I find this to be an easy and quick meal when I'm in a bind. I picked her up at daycare today and the housekeeper was still cleaning the kitchen when we got home so we sat on the porch and ate. The other day I bought her a burger and tore it into small pieces and she wouldn't touch it. Todd suggested I just hand her the burger instead - so I did and this time she ate it - who knew?

A Date with Myself

Todd doesn't know it yet but I'm going to see Sex and the City 2 this weekend while he watches the girls... because let's face it - it's not worth $15 an hour to go to a movie as a couple any more. That's like a month of our Blockbuster membership each hour.

Christmas Cactus

I love my Christmas Cactus. I never know when it will bloom - definately not at Christmas though. Auntie Susan Strauss gave this to me almost 10 years ago as a birthday present when I was working at the Alumni Association. It never bloomed until I moved to California. Thanks Susan - this gift makes me think of you all the time!

Saturday Fun

Veda was feeling a little under the weather Saturday but we decided the best medicine would be to get out of the house. We met up with the Soffin/Soria family at Underwood Farms. Fun times for all. The pic of Veda at the fence was when she was yelling at the 800 lb pig. She wanted it to move but it was sleeping.

And then there were three...

A little more love came into our lives early this morning. Mr. Owen Ehlers (weighing in at 7lbs 6oz and measuring 20 inches) was born in Scottsdale. We are so emotional (ok so I'm so emotional - Todd not as much) about his arrival. Kel and Chris deserve all the happiness he will bring to them. Welcome little man - we love you!

More Smiles

Here are some still pics of little Adele in her good mood today. The last two photos are of Veda at the same age... I found one with her wearing the exact same outfit and laying on the exact same blanket... I don't think they look much alike in these photos. Adele's eyes are blue and Veda's are green and they definately have different noses.

Baby Day?

We are sooooooooooooo excited. Baby Boy Ehlers may arrive yet today. I will be a real Auntie. Will keep you posted on the arrival of Veda and Adele's cousin. Todd's cousin had his baby this morning too. Shaping up to be an eventful day!

Brushes with Fame

Todd made it on to an episode of The Houswives of New Jersey when he was at NY fashion week last year. He didn't know until now... Also - here are some pics from Hollywood Style Awards last year that I never posted.

We are having our first official sick day. Veda was burning up this morning so I took her temp... 101. She isn't acting like she doesn't feel well as you can see but just in case I didn't want to expose the other kids at daycare. Normally I look forward to sending her off for fun at Jenn's but on this cold and cruddy day I'm glad to have her home.

We went to Todd's company picnic yesterday and Veda didn't see the sign that said she was too little to ride the slide.

Laughing at myself

I found the cream cheese in the pantry on Friday. I know it had been there for a couple of days because I distinctly remember opening the cabinet and seeing it there but not having it register that this is a refridgerater item. The week before Todd found my Ben and Jerry's in the fridge. Probably for the best;)

Blog Nap

I tend to blog when I have a photo to share. I haven't been good about getting the camera out this week so here's one from the archives just for giggles. Veda starts swimming lessons on Monday and so far she is turning out to be quite a fish. Last week when we were sitting in the hot tub with our neighbors Veda got out and ran over to the big pool and jumped in by herself. No fear. Her life vest/waterwing combo gives her too much courage I'm afraid.

The Shuffle

It's hard to say who will be in which bed come morning. This morning at about 3am Veda came in and jumped in our bed. Normally Todd would take her back to her bed but he didn't wake up so she just snuggled in between us and fell asleep. Adele started to stir in her bassinet a short time after so I brought her into Veda's room to feed her so we wouldn't wake Todd or Veda. Todd left for work early. When he left I went back to our room to sleep with Veda and left Adele in the other room. A different routine every night!

Rub a dub dub

Bath time with Adele. Veda also has a matching towel. Thanks Patti!

Thanks Auntie and Unc

Happy Mother's Day

Love Veda & Adele!

If you don't look good...

...we don't look good.  I had some all day meetings down at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica on Friday.  I brought Veda a little present home from the schools...a mannequin head and some brushes to practice with.  She is already quite the little stylist....just like Grandma Di Di
