Look who stole the phone and dipped it in the water table. It makes a really funny noise when it's water-logged.

This should be illegal

We have been spending a lot of time at the pool this summer. Adele likes to play on the steps and pour water in and out of buckets and Todd and I don't always like to sit in the water so we've been searching for some solution so Adele will survive a few moments on her own if she falls into deeper water. I tried this. What a joke. Adele fell on her face and couldn't even roll over which she can at least do without a floatation device. Plus we had two people tell us what a cute little boy we had;)

Oh yeah baby

This past weekend I made stuffed blueberry french taost bake with homemade blueberry syrup. To die for!

I thought I had found a new activity for Adele. She's actually really good at the coloring part. I'm convinced she doesn't have taste buds.

So T-Ball isn't her thing but she LOVED ballet. We can't wait until next week. They didn't break out the tap shoes and this week's class which I would have loved to seen... maybe next.

Oh Veda

The other night after her bath Veda was running around playing in her birthday suit. After about 30 minutes we told her it was time to put her clothes on. "Not now, I'm not done exercising," was her reply.

While I was travelling for work this week the neighbor was kind enough to take Veda to Tball practice. One of our friends reported that when it was her turn to bat and run the bases she told each of the Moms standing at each base "My Mommy is in Arizona." Then at her second turn at bat she told the Moms "My Mommy is STILL in Arizona."

Veda puts her shoes on herself and I often find that she has put them on the wrong feet. When I tell her she responds with "No thanks, they are just right." So... she generally parades around with her shoes on the wrong feet - whatever.

Note - we've been really bad at using our camera to take photos lately. Our Iphone and Droid make it so easy to snap quick photos without lugging around our nice one and Todd has been enjoying all the fun features of his phone. I can also post to the blog right from my Droid which is super handy;)

Swim Lessons

Veda at swim lessons with Drew. I had to watch from behind the gates where she couldn't see me because as I expected, she started crying and trying to climb out of the pool to get to me once she figured out that the teacher was going to get her head wet. I was travelling for work when she had her second lesson but my friend tells me that she dunked her head on her own - progress. We have been at the pool just about every day getting her and Adele use to the water. She is all over the place on her own with her water wings. Hopefully those can come off by Summer's End.

We Will Be Five!

Mid January we will see if there's any truth to this;)

What to wear

1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.

2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.

3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

Preparing for the Birth:

1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.

2nd baby: You don’t bother because you remember that last time, breathing didn’t do a thing.

3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month.
The Wardrobe:

1st baby: You pre -wash newborn’s clothes, colour-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby’s little bureau.

2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.

3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can’t they?

1st baby: At the first sign of distress–a whimper, a frown–you pick up the baby

2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.

3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing.
The Pacifier:

1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.

2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby’s bottle.

3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.
Diaper changes:

1st baby: You change your baby’s diaper every hour, whether they need it or not.

2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.

3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.

2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.

3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.
Going Out:

1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times.

2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.

3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.
At Home:

1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.

2nd baby: You spend a bit of every day watching to be sure your older child isn’t squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.

3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.
Swallowing Coins:

1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays

2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.

3rd child: When third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!

T Ball

Well I think it's safe to say that Adele enjoys Veda's Tball games more than Veda does. We had team pics an hour before the game this Saturday. An hour sitting around in the hot sun plus Veda's impending bout with the flu did not produce a happy camper. The family pic is of the Laabs' cheering on the Pirates sans Veda.

We are usually travelling in July so this is the first year we were home to attend Camarillo's annual Fiesta Street Fair. Unfortunately the visit started with a tramatic experience for Veda. Todd snapped the photo of the Zebra moments before it mistoook Veda's hand for food. She was pretty upset and it took quite a while for her to stop shaking violently. The staff at the petting zoo promptly returned our money and treated Todd and Veda to a free camel ride.

4th of July Fun

We did a pretty poor job of capturing the weekend's festivities. We attended three separate BBQs and spent lots of time at our pool. Veda also got to watch the fireworks with Dad while Mom stayed home with a sleeping baby. Lucky for Veda that Uncle BJ is a Fireman. His Firemen friends stopped by for a burger on the 4th and Veda got to "drive" the "Firebus";)

Chorus Concert

A few pics from Veda's Spring Chorus concert. It wasn't very exciting. Veda pretty much just stood there like a deer looking into headlights. She was distracted by the large crowd staring at her. I didn't get very good pictures or film since I was balancing Adele with one arm. Every parent in the place was holding a camera so I didn't have anyone to pawn her off on.

Clear Lake Recap

Our trip to the lake this summer was not the sunniest but we managed to enjoy the adventure of Clear Lake anyways. We didn't take as many photos as we probably should have given we couldn't really bring the camera out in the rain. As always we loved our boat rides, gold cart rides, trips to the market for ice cream, walks, campfires, utlilty bath baths;), fishing, swimming in the pool on the deck, playing in the garage, exploring Didi and Papi's house, trips downtown and to Church in the Park and just spending time with family! Thanks for having us Did and Papi.

Boating. Adele and Owen's only ride. Not that they weren't fans of the ride... they just weren't digging the lifejackets.

Annual shrimp boil. Unfortunately I spent this year's dinner indoors with my screaming kids;) But yummmmm. Sure is good eats.

Papi - reading Veda the edited version of the book I gave Todd for Father's Day.
We got one dip in the pool before the weather turned frigid.
Aunts Darlene and DeMaris along with Carol (Todd's cousin's wife) paid a visit with Colton and Aiden (not pictured). The kids approved of their kin.
No Bobs were caught on this trip;( Veda got to play with the minnows though and that's what she really looks forward to anyway.

Might want to tip the bottle up a little Veda... I'm just sayin'.

The view from the house on a cloudy day.
Seems that Veda isn't the only one feeding Owen.

Veda narrating the story of Bambi swimming up to the dock.

Didi knows how to manage an almost 3 year old in the chair. Veda loved her haircut and has told pretty much everyone about it. I love it too. Thanks Didi.
 Just shooting the breeze.

 Some wildlife.

Thank goodness that Didi and Papi have a very large and clean garage. This served as our "backyard" while we took shelter from the rain allowing us to get the kids out of the house!
Smores... I couldn't wait for the rain to clear so we could make a fire in the firepit so I just used the microwave;) Eventually we did get to partake in the real deal and Veda invited the neighbor boy to share in the fun. They chased each other around the firepit all night.
