Adele's buddy Kabir from school invited her to his 2nd birthday. Her first birthday party. It was madness and made me feel guilty that I didn't throw her a 2nd bday party. Will have to make it up to her on her 3rd.

We went to a going away party Saturday for a friend and co-worker at Todd's boss' house. Veda had so much fun that she asked if we could come-ed again?!

The Landing Patio Bar & Grill

 

The time has come for fun in the sun;)! Our post on the Hotel website...

We are pleased to announce the opening of ‘The Landing’ patio bar and grille. This coming weekend, we will open the doors with a portion of our food menu and a fully stocked bar. By Monday, June 11th, we will be fully open, serving dinner Monday through Thursday and breakfast, lunch and dinner Friday through Sunday.
The Landing offers a large lake front bar and grille, with perfect views of Clear Lake, Iowa. We have a large dock where you can conveniently tie up your boat during the day or evening to stop by for food or drinks. The Landing is located at 1603 South Shore Dr, attached to the lakeside of the South Shore Inn. Stop by for great food, unique drinks and an unbeatable atmosphere!

Good morning?

Veda just finished a monster nap (from 2:30 to almost 6:30). She comes downstairs all excited and asks what's for breakfast. We tried to explain that she just took a really long nap (about "42 hrs" to be exact), but she doesn't quite believe us... so she's having eggs in a frame for dinner (aka frogs in a pond).

A few more weekend photos

We made a couple trips to the park. Our first was for a picnic with provisions from our favorite Clear Lake eatery (Starboard Market). Not sure if I'm allowed to eat there anymore after our restaurant opens in a couple of weeks;) We also enjoyed church in the park. Really- what's better than a morning latte outside in a lawn chair with the water in the background and a good church service? Not that we get to pay much attention as we are chasing the kids around - but we try.

And THIS is how I do it

I often hear "I just don't know how you do it, Kathy." Well here it is. The kids are home with the babysitter on Fridays so I have to become invisable. The real challenge is convincing Adele that I have left the house when I'm really locked away in a room somewhere. Sometimes this requires a fake exit and then I have to sneak back in. I can usually hear them running around but this morning I had a call so I had to make sure my clients couldn't hear them. This required me to shut my bedroom door, bathroom door and closet door and here is where I worked. THIS is how I do it;)

Conversations with Veda...

Dad:    "Veda, what are you doing?"
Veda:  "Just playing with my belly button"
Dad:    "Oh..."
Veda:  "My belly button is a long cord that keeps all my bones inside my body.  If you don't have bones, then you can't run, jump and skip"
Veda:  "Dad, look at my muscle (flexing her arm)...see, that muscle protects my bones...from wild animals attacks...grrrrr..."
Dad:    "hmm"

Maiden Voyage

At the special request of Veda, Gary had them put in the new pontoon boat. It was a little windy but this thing is so big (it seats 22!) that it could handle the waves. Tom brought the celebratory beverage;) Looking forward to summer fun on the boat!

Crossing Lines

Owen and Adele were having too much fun with their fishing poles. Surprisingly they remained calm while Didi came to the rescue and got them untangled.

Iowa City Favorites

We spent Memorial Day Weekend at the lake with a stopover in Iowa City for the night. We introduced the kids to breakfast at Hamburg Inn. They got to enjoy the playground at the library and a trip to the Museum of Natural History at the UI while Mom and Dad had conference calls. Veda has decided she wants a whale themed birthday after seeing a giant one hanging from the ceiling at the museum. We even ran into one of our fellow Mommy Bloggers Erin J-K and her herd;)

Four Months

85% height at 26.5 inches, 58% weight at 15.1 lbs, and 50% head circumference and a HAPPY boy who is growing too attached to his Mommy;)

Questions from Veda

"Hey dad, when I get bigger, can I stand up and pee? Is it because I'm a little kid? Derek (from school) knows how to stand up and pee."

Happy Birfday Dear Owie...

Our celebration was pretty casual... cupcakes here and there... presents whenever we needed a distraction but everyone loved the party hats... except the party boy;)

When we were in Iowa for Easter my good friend Betsi was in town visiting her parents as well so we stopped by for a playdate and some of Pat's homemade cinammon rolls.

Argh!

I braved the school picnic Thursday night when Todd was out of town and Adele was sporting a double ear infection. Of course the girls wanted to eat their dinner in the "pirate ship". So I had to trudge through the mulch with an umbrella stroller and three plates of food. I got lots of sad looks and we didn't stay very long.

We Bought a Zoo... Membership

We hit up the zoo Saturday morning. We didn't last long because poor Winston was melting in his stroller. The highlight... a visit from Barney who performed at the amphitheatre.
