Multi-purpose
Todd told Adele that her Paci would help with her ears during landing. She took it literally but it seemed to work;)
Down for the Count
You know it's the stomach flu when Veda tells Todd that he fed her to much food for lunch - when she only had a few bites. You know it's the stomach flu when Veda sits down next to Dad and tells him his stomach is talking to her.
We were lucky. And I mean it. Todd, Veda and Adele have all gotten a severe case of the stomach flu over the past few days. Adele came down with it Saturday night while in bed with Todd at our friend's home. Todd caught most of it;) Planning ahead for our flight home (assuming Adele might still be sick) I asked our host for a barf bucket for the plane. About half way through the flight we needed it for Veda - the flight attendants praised us for our preparedness and raved about Todd's parenting skills as he handled the situation himself and didn't need to involve them. I will never travel without tupperwear again - it would have been a disaster. This morning I woke up at 5am to sounds of Todd getting sick. He hasn't gotten out of bed and is so sick he doesn't even want the TV on!
So why are we lucky? We are lucky that we didn't get it all at once, that we were prepared on the flight, and that Winston hasn't gotten it (knock on wood).

Back up...
Before we recap our vacation in Cali I needed to get some more photos up from Adele's birthday weekend and visit from Gary and Diane.
Adele got a bubble gun... and we got a perfect day to use it!
Green eggs and ham for breakfast on St. Patty Day... of course.
We had a gorgeous week. How often can you hang outside without a shirt on in March... not very often... especially if you are a girl')
Tough Lessons
Adele was standing at the window and comes running over saying "owie". We couldn't figure out what hurt, so I walk over to the door and she starts saying "no, bad bee". I then look over and there is a big bee on the inside of the window that apparently stung her in the thumb. Adele's lesson - don't play with bees.

Adele's Birthday!
We had such a busy birthday weekend that I'm not sure which pictures to post first. Todd was in Europe on the 16th so we didn't want to have the official celebration in his absence but lucky for us the Baldes crew was here to celebrate. They were kind enough to make Adele a Gluten Free cake (they have food allergies and we got to explore the world of dairy free and Gluten Free while they were here). From that point on every time she heard the Happy Birthday song she would scream "cake, cake, cake!" I even let her have cake for breakfast on her big day! You can tell in the thrid picture that it's still dark out;)
Veda's best birthday surpise was a visit from Didi and Papi who came to town to watch the Cyclones in the NCAA tourney. They arrived in the wee hours of the morning on Adele's birthday and showered her with gifts and lots of attention. It was also Grandpa Gary's first time meeting Winston and they really hit it off - mainly because Winston didn't make a peep so he was granted access to Gary's lap;) We took the girls out for birthday ice cream that night!
When Todd got home on Saturday we gave Adele's some more gifts and sang happy birthday - to which she responded with "cake, cake, cake!"
She had her birthday celebration at school today. We brough in a pinata and she and her friends shared a mini birthday cake.

The Fort Auntie Janice Built
You had to go through the tunnel in the tent to get in. Veda said she wasn't so sure about it... until Carson went first and convinced her it was safe.

A Day at the Aquarium
Went to the aquarium today with our friends Steve and Jen (and their kids Jack and Sydney). Veda spent most of the time chasing Jack and trying to show him all the different exhibits. After that we hit up Tom+Chee (grilled cheese restaurant) the best part of the day in my opinion.
